Qmc brings out all the colour of your music
We love music. We also love the perfect sound. This means we are not only willing to go the extra mile for a good take, but also for the roundness, wideness and deepness that belongs in the mix. It is of upmost importance to us that we present you a master that‘s not just loud, but rather one that is able to expose the fine and special dynamical finesse of your music. qmc offers the complete production process from beginning to end, starting with a concept, the recording, mixing and final master all the way to distributing your best musical moments to the public.
qmc produced a wide range of musical genres, ranging from small acoustic ensembles, to intelligently advanced, high-quality pop music. But producing classical Orchestras and choirs of 150 or more musicians is a challenge we‘ve accepted as well, with enthusiasm. Music is our passion, and you‘ll surely hear our pride in the following recording examples (reference list)
A recording is only as good as the whole recording process!
This begins with your instrument and continues with the recording room. The right microphone is a crucial decision in this process, as is choosing a high-quality preamp and converter. Remember, what you loose at the beginning of the recording process, you can't get back. That is why we work with the highest quality equipment, We also gladly support you in your decision making to find the best acoustic "space" for your recording.
Every voice, every instrument has their own sound. As does every microphone to suit the instrument. We choose from a wide selection of high-quality microphones the one that becomes a part of your voice or instrument and captures your creative moments, especially fitted to your range, making the most of your sound. (see microphone list for further reference)
Along with the choice of a microphone, it is crucial that much care is taken while selecting the proper microphone technique. Trends show that this particular know how has become forgotten in the recording business. This is why we emphasize it‘s importance. Taking time to position the microphones properly differentiates us from those who work with standard set ups, not even knowing what is lost in the process. We have deep experience in all stereo mixing techniques like coincidence, time of arrival, equivalence and separation microphone stereo techniques, Furthermore, we have a wide range of experience in the area of surround sound recording techniques (with double MS, DECCA Tree, OCT und OCT2 Surround) to give recordings the depth needed and has, as a result, opened up a new sound, offering listeners an unforgettable live music experience.
You can do it in the mix...
It really wouldn’t be right to say that all the recording mistakes in a song could be fixed in the mixing process. However, it is possible with the tools available today, to easily make pitch and even rhythmical adjustments, but often enough, the all-around sound and musicality of the song suffer as a result. Using these tricks should, therefore, always be a very last option.
We clean every track, when necessary, by adjusting the dynamics, strengthening their color with careful usage of high-quality analog or digital equalizers and other equipment in our studio.
To get a transparent mix, we automatize every single track, rather than simply compress the music as a whole. Our high-quality reverb algorithms and impulse responses effects taken from both hard and software sources, help us to give these tracks the proper "space" they need to get the best sound possible in the mix.
Our main goal is to have a good listening level throughout the mix. We reach it by using the whole stereo width to bring out the fine dynamical features. For the correct positioning of every track, we not only use left and right panning, but also "running time" stereo, for sensible reasons, as well.
Mastering doesn't just mean "getting it loud"
Many believe mastering a piece means to simply turn up the volume. Loudness at all costs is not our motto! Nevertheless, surely there are pieces that need emphasizing, gain on dynamic and therefore "live" from the loudness that is added during the last phase of a production.
Our understanding of mastering is much more. First of all, we optimize the macro dynamic of the mix in a complicated automation process so that the musical dynamics throughout the piece come out better. Then, we check the mix as a whole for resonances and compare it to our reference pieces, carefully correcting spikes along the way. We understand the quality of our craftsmanship, and like the blacksmith who pours the mold, we take special care that in the end, the piece sounds solid as a whole, and not screwed together. Simply laying tracks a side/a top each other is the careless work of an indifferent attitude towards music. The care we take in the mastering process, along with our usage of the highest quality tube driven machinery, is our guarantee for a hearable difference.
Furthermore we produce for every media a dedicated master.
